1st day back to work...

Today was my first day back to work after what seemed like a very short maternity leave. The morning went pretty well. Eli got up around 6 to eat and after that fell back asleep. I was able to get ready and help Delaney get ready for school too. I had everything ready by 7:15 which was my goal. I got Eli to my Aunt's house by 7:30 and that's when it began... you guessed it...I cried. I was all good until I started telling my aunt his eating schedule then I started welling up. She asked if I was okay, then I lost it. My aunt just laughed at me and told me he would be just fine. I knew he would, but still...I had to leave my baby to sort of babysit (with some teaching during the day) my 5th grade students. It was so hard! As I was telling Eli to be good on my way out the door, he just gave me the biggest gummy grin! I love that I can tell he loves me so much! It would have been so much harder to leave if he was crying, but he doesn't do that often. I knew he was going go be fine.

Once I got to work, I was so busy, I hardly had time to think. I did think about calling to check on him, but I refrained and am very proud of myself. I talked to the kids about him all day. I am sure his ears were ringing! Everyone at worked asked me about my day and asked if I was doing okay. One even put a welcome back gift on my door and another baked brownies! I love my co-workers. Having them makes going back just a little easier.

The day did go by quickly. I am glad they do. We have state testing this week and next, so I am sure to get ahead on planning and copying. This works out great because then I can leave right after the kids are dismissed to pick up the baby. When I got to my aunt's house to pick up Eli, he was all smiles! I was so glad to be picking him up finally.

I hope the next 24 days until spring break go by just as quickly as today went. Dropping Eli off will always be hard, but it will definitely get easier with each day!
